Tack

Tack is the equipment that your horse wears while you are riding. It is important to take good care of the tack your horse uses so that it lasts a long time and also because your horse will be more comfortable. While you clean your tack you should also make sure that it is in good shape and doesn't need any repairs. Here is a description of the different items you need.

Saddles

There are two main types of saddles: western and English. The English saddle is mostly used for jumping, racing and horse shows. It weighs less and has more padding. The western saddle is heavier and has a horn that you can hold onto that can help you keep your balance. Cowboys and rodeo riders use a western saddle. Here is a comparison of the two saddles.

Bit

The bit is a piece of metal that you put into the horse's mouth. There are rings on both sides of the bit so that you can attach the reigns. This helps you to steer your horse. Sometimes bits are also made from rubber or nylon. There are different types of bits.

Bridle

The bridle is the thing that holds the bit in place. There are different parts of a bridle. They are called: the brow band, headstall, throat latch, cheek straps, nose band, and reins.
