To learn more about snowboards and the sport of snowboarding we decided to interview a couple of people. We interviewed Jarrod Daniels who is a local snowboarder. When he came to Mt. View Elementary school, we went outside and he showed us some tricks. After we got back in our classroom we asked him some questions. He also gave us snowboarding catalogs and magazines. We also interviewed a salesperson named Steve who sells snowboards. Here are our interviews.

Have you ever been injured by snowboarding?
Yes. I hurt my knees.
Can you tell us any safety tips?
Yes. Bend your knees when you are going off a jump and when you are landing. Also, you might get injuries if you don't wear a leash. A leash is like a strap that goes to the back of your binding. The strap goes around your leg so if you take your right leg out and you go sliding down a hill the leash will be connected to your back leg. If it is still connected to your back leg than you have a chance of not breaking your leg.
Can you win money when you are in snowboarding contests?
People win money when they are pros. Snowboarding is starting to become a more popular sport than skiing.
When is the best time to go snowboarding?
The best time to go snowboarding is when it is really sunny, and the snow is covered with soft powder.
How many years have you snowboarded?
Eight years.
What other equipment do snowboarders need?
A helmet is good for when you are snowboarding. If you slip and hit your head you won't get injured as much.
Goggles help to protect your eyes from snow that is flying up and the sun.
A hat's job is to protect you from getting frostbite if you are snowboarding for a long time.
Snowboarding boots that fit you are important. You can get any style that you want but it has to fit your snowboard. Also make sure that they fit your bindings or they won't work.
What are the names of some tricks?
There are different kinds of tricks. Some of them are: front flip, back flip, tail grab, nose grab, method, indy grab, 90 , 180 , 360 , and 540.
We also interviewed Steve at Wilderness Way, which is a local store that sells snowboarding and other sports equipment.
What is your a name?
Steve.
What are the best bindings?
Metal bindings are heavier but easier to get into. Aluminum bindings are lighter but harder to get into. They are more flexible to do tricks in.
What are the best bindings for racing?
Alp's and Primes.
What are the best boards for beginners?
Any well made board should have a metal ring around it and be flexible when you bend it. It should be sturdy when you try to tweak it.
How much does it cost to get set up?
The boards start at about 185 dollars. The boots start at about 50 dollars and up. The bindings start from 100 dollars and up.
What other equipment do you use?
Helmet, goggles or glasses, and leashes.
How do you take care of a snowboard?
When you get done with snowboarding for the day you want to dry your board and your bindings completely off. Then you want to have a case to put your snowboard in and store it someplace where no one will step on it . You can also buy snowboard hangers and hang them on your wall. At the end of the season you want to wax your board really well so it won't have white marks or scratches on it.
