1. Eye spice with thimble This important splice is used to attach lines together which need to be easily untied.
2. Eye splice without thimble This splice is used to attach lines together which do not need to be easily untied. An example would be a stretch line used to tighten a net which is hooked to a truck with a rolling hitch.
3. Tapered long splice This splice is used to piece the two ends of a broken line together or add length to an existing line. This splice is about the thickness of the original line. It is good for lines which must run through a pulley or through a tight place.
4. Short splice This splice has uses similar to a long splice. This splice is thicker than the long splice but much faster to put together .
