
The Kenai Peninsula is located 160 driving miles south of Anchorage. It's formed by mountains, hills, lowlands, glaciers and rivers.
People work in the oil and gas refineries. Tourism on the peninsula is a busy time in the summer. Sport fishing is very popular in Kenai, Homer and Seward. The world's largest king salmon, a 97 pounder, was caught in the Kenai River.

The population of the Kenai Peninsula is about 44,000. Some people in this region are Russian. They are called Old Believers. Others are descendants of Russian settlers. The Kenai Peninsula Borough is the third largest in the state of Alaska. People come here to fish, hunt, ski and snowshoe in different seasons. |
