The Bering Sea borders the southwestern part of the Seward Peninsula. This used to be the home of the most valuable seal herds in the world. Commercial hunting of fur seals is now prohibited to protect them. This is the Bering Sea controversy.

The Arctic Circle touches the northern tip of the Seward Peninsula. Beyond that is the Chukchi Sea.

Nome is the largest city and the best known city on the Seward Peninsula.

Because storms wreck houses and flood them, they built a dike there.
