MYTHS

Long ago there used to be lots of rumors about wolves turning into creatures and monsters and people turning into werewolves. These legends made people think that wolves were bad. For many years people killed as many wolves as they could. The government also put bounties on them, and a lot were poisoned too. Wolves were even shot from airplanes. Now wolves are carefully managed to protect them from over harvest by humans.

Soon a lot of scientists got curious and wanted to find out if wolves really were as bad as they heard.

Then people found out the rumors weren't true. People also found out wolves don't attack anyone. Wolves are mostly pretty calm. Wolves only get mad when you bother them or threaten them. When wolves go into farming country they find out that some farm animals are easy prey. This is true and is probably where they get a bad reputation.

Wolves used to be all over the world a few hundred years ago. Now there are only small portions of them left and most of them are in the wilds of North America and in a lot of zoos
