I am the cyber spirit of Wanchese. I am a member of the Roanoacs Native American tribe.

I was born on Roanoke Island. I tried to be a friend to the new white people who came to our land. I went to England with the white man and told them about the New World and all the wonderful things that were in my land.

We shared our food with the white man when he came to our land but when the season changed to winter we had little food to share. We became very angry when Ralph Lane and his men attacked our village and took our food. They killed many of our people.

After Lane and his men attacked our village, we decided that we would no longer be a friend to the English. We were glad when they left.

We watched Sir Richard Grenville returned to the island. He didn't stay very long but he left fifteen colonists. We decided we wanted to get even because of the things the white men had done. We got help from our friends the Secotan Indian tribe and killed two of the Englishmen. I don't know what happened to the other men.

In July, 1587, John White came with the new colonists. He thought we killed one of their men called George Howe. Maybe one of the men from my tribe did kill him.

Some other Native Americans lived up the coast from us somewhere near the place now called Chesapeake Bay. Their great warrior leader was called Powhatan who is also a cyber spirit.
