I am the cyber spirit of the famous Elizabeth I, Queen of England & Ireland. Much has been written about me with some being true and some not. When I was on earth, I was a very independent woman. Here are some of the basic facts of my life.
I was born in London, England, on September 7,1533. My mother is Anne Boleyn. She was the second wife of my famous father, King Henry VIII. He had many wives. Edward I and Mary I are my brother and sister by my father's other wives. When my father ended the marriage to my mother some people asked questions about my legitimacy but I became queen after the death of my sister Mary in 1558.
I studied hard and got a good education. While I was growing up there were lots of problems in England with religion. Some people were Catholics and others were Protestant . My sister wanted me to be Catholic so I was a Catholic but when Mary died I became a Protestant.
I was a popular queen and worked very hard for England. The English people wanted me to marry and have children but I never did. I was a hard working queen and I was a good ruler. I even put my cousin Mary, Queen of Scots in prison because some people thought she should be queen and even tried to make her queen. So in 1587, I had her executed.
I was queen during the second half of the 16th century and it was exciting. Everyone in England wanted our country to find new things and places so we could become stronger than Spain.
Many English men came to my court. They talked to me about England and asked for money to sail ships to the New World. Some of my favorite men were Robert Dudley, 1st earl of Leicester, Sir Walter Raleigh, and Robert Devereux, 2nd earl of Essex.
Raleigh came to me and asked for ships and supplies. He was very nice and charming and I really liked him. Raleigh wanted to send these ships to the New World. He smiled and talked very nicely to me. Raleigh told me that England needed to get new colonies. I finally agreed. This is how I became part of this story.
After Raleigh got the money and supplies he sent ships to the New World. I was very happy when I heard about the New World and the things that were there but I started to worry about Spain. Spain was becoming a strong country because they were also getting new colonies in the New World.
Later when John White needed ships to go back to Roanoke I had to say no because England needed all our ships to fight the Spanish Armada. I always wondered what happened to those colonists he had left in America.
England became a stronger country with the new colonies, but there were still problems especially with Ireland. I was getting old and tired. I finally left the earth. I died in London on March 23, 1603.
