John White left England with 150 men, women, and children
sent by Sir Walter Raleigh to plan the City of Raleigh on the Chesapeake
Bay.
They landed on Roanoke Island to pick up the 15 men left by Lane earlier;
they ended up staying on Roanoke Island until their disappearance.
