The Last Planet to Be Discovered

These two bright images were taken by the Hubble Space Telescope. The larger image in Pluto. The smaller image is its moon, Charon. 

 

This picture was taken from a land based telescope. 

 

This image shows shows Pluto and Charon taken from the land based telescope on the Canary Island. The telescope is a 2.6 meter Nordic Optical Telescope.  

This is a picture of the Pluto taken by the Hubble Space Telescope. There is more large scale contrast on Pluto than any other planet. 

 

Pluto Express This is a painting by Pat Rawlings of the Pluto Express mission scheduled for launch in 2001 to arrive at Pluto around 2006-2008. (Courtesy Pat Rawlings/NASA/JPL)
