Here is a quick story from a 5th grade class in North Dakota,

LIGHTNING COLD.JPG (2373 bytes)Last winter we made the national news with our 112 inches of snow and spring flooding.  This winter we only have about 6" of snow and the temperatures have been less cold.  The winter isn't over yet, but it's been great so far.  In the summer our average temperature is about 80 degrees.  We get lots of sun.

Here is a story about a cross country trip to South Dakota,

MEAN CLOUD.JPG (2743 bytes)In June of 1993 our family of five people went on a cross country trip. When we were camping in Badlands National Park in South Dakota one night, the wind was so strong it was blowing our tent so hard that the sides of our tent were right above our chests as we were laying in our sleeping bags. We all woke up and talked about how scary it was. We wondered if the stakes had pulled out of the ground. Would the tent have blown away with us. We didn’t get a lot of sleep and the wind did finally stop. The next day we packed up and left and stopped at the worlds largest drug store, "Wall Drug." Someone was talking about the tornado that passed through the night before. Thank Goodness we hadn’t heard about the tornado the night before because we would have been more scared than we already were.
