With your class or with a few friends, get as much of the following information as possible for each person.

• Today's date.
• The amount of your lunch drink in mililiters.
• The high temperature for today.
• The low temperature for today.
• Name of your state or country capital.
• The distance to your capital.

Now that you have your information, it is time to analyze it. Figure out the mean, the median and the mode of your heights, weights and lunch drinks of your class or group.

Mean is the average. Add up the values and divide by the number of values. For example, to find the mean of 7, 8, 8, 9, 8, and 6, first add them. That is 46. Then divide by the number of items which is 6. 46 divided by 6 equals about 7.6. So the mean is 7.6.

Median is the middle number. If no one middle number exists, add the two middle numbers and divide by two. Find the middle number of these numbers: 6, 7, 8, 8, 8, 9. The middle number here is 8. So the median is 8.

Mode is the number that occurs most often. In the above, 8 is the value that occurs most often. So 8 is the mode.
