Events

The Revolutionary War occurred due to a combination of events. Most of the events were laws passed by British Parliament, the British government, such as taxes imposed on imported goods. These events before the war were very important, seeing as these were the very events which helped inspire the colonists to revolt against the British. After the war had begun, certain events kept the war going, and, in addition to this, certain events helped the war stop. After the war, many ideas were put into place by many people, ultimately forming the United States as they are known today. In this index of events, the events are sorted into two sections: the events leading up to the war, and a timeline of the 24 hours during April 19, 1775.
