Veterinarians

There is a chief veterinarian and veterinarian staff. They have responsibility of the dogs from the start until 72 hours after the finish.

They check the hearts of the dogs for any problems. If there are, the veterinarian cardiologist (heart doctor) is asked what he thinks about the safety of the dog running the race.

Vets have the right to make decisions to collect blood or urine samples at any point from the pre-race exam until 6 hours after the teams finish.

If a dog tests positive for any drugs not allowed (see dog care) a rule has been broken.
