Downhill Skiing

My favorite winter sport is downhill skiing. The first time I tried downhill skiing was two years ago. My mom taught me how to stop by snowplowing, how to turn and how to get on a chair lift. She said I was a natural. I think I just loved it from the very start. My fourth time on downhill skis, I rode a tram up to the top of Alyeska, our biggest ski resort, and went down the intermediate slopes. At first, it was scary, and my leg muscles got tired as I worked hard to keep from going out of control. But pretty soon, it was easy and fun.

This year for P.E. I downhill ski at Hilltop every Monday and Wednesday afternoon. Hilltop is really just a beginner slope, but I still have things to learn. My instructor is crazy and a lot of fun. We follow him in and out of the trees and go off huge jumps. I’m getting better at parallel skiing and will miss the snow when it melts.
