J.J is thirteen, and is in seventh grade. She was born in
Alaska and has lived here all but three months of her life. J.J went to O'Malley
Elementary, kindergarten through sixth grade, and to Wendler Junior High for the
first semester of seventh grade and is currently in Alyeska Correspondence School.
J.J won the Junior Olympics for figure skating in 1995. She progressed through
Regional and Sectional Championships in order to compete in the Junior Olympics. J.J
practices 4-5 hours on the ice, and 2-4 hours off the ice each day. Her
training off of the ice includes weight training, choreography, running to increase her
endurance, and strengthening of specific muscles.
Her favorite thing about living in Alaska is the abundance of animals and the snow.
Some of her most favorite animals are the dogsled dogs. Her least favorite thing
about Alaska is that the temperature on the ice during practice is 30 degrees colder than
outside. This makes for some REALLY COLD practices!!!!!
