Scientist say that earthquakes are the deadly side of geography . They strike unexpectedly . They are very dangerous. Here is how they start . During an earthquake a pulse of compression is sent out, which squeezes rock . When the pulse reaches Earth's surfaces tit refracts and reduces stress on the rock . The earth relieves pressure on the growing quake allowing the rock on either side of the fault to slide more freely. During an earthquake, land and roads might get disconnected and trees and electricty poles might fall . Fires may start from open gas tanks and the electricity wires on the ground.
