With The Vine Outside My Window
By Adam Parod

I dream of luscious vines
tightly wrapped around my body,
promising always to hold me.

I dream of its bright green leaves blowing in the wind
as if waving to the world for everyone to see.

I dream of the sweet scent of fruit,
as it is carried in the wind,
only for it to later lay at the tip of my tongue.

I dream of a gentle rain as it cascades
from the heavens above,
only to drip from the leaves and fruit of the vine,
onto my skin that is parched by the sun.

I dream of a life so entwined and full of meaning,
a future so bright and colourful,
and experiences so exciting and full of pleasure,
that I may be swept away from the lonely,
empty room of reality in which I lay.
With the vine outside my window.
