A simple shadow I see
Mismatching she means to be
Bent over a table
Writing poems, thoughts, and fables
In her eyes I peek
But what I found is not what I seek.
A beautiful soul I find
Fair in heart, fair in mind.
She may cover it up
Because pain is not her teacup.
Unfortunately that's not what she sees.
Life for her is not a simple cool breeze.
Poor Alice lost a friend
Instead of being happy,
She's lost a part of herself instead.
And I think to myself
Can I help her regain
part of her internal wealth?
I guess maybe, down the line
I can help make things fine.
But not totally.
And everyone can see
A beautiful spirit that's covered
Maybe she even needs to be mothered.
And in my own way
I give her love, tenderly, internally
And that's all I can be.
A good friend
So she can make it with a smile
at the end.
