TIP: All of the terms that we used are right here.
Alleles: two types of genes, which are dominant and recessive
Amino acid: a small molecule that is the building blocks of proteins
Base: a building block of DNA,
Cell: the smallest self-contained living unit.
Chromosome: a structure in the nucleus of a living thing that contains DNA, and is used to pass genes down to any future generations
Cloning: a process of producing cells and living things with identical
genes
DNA: the substance of which genes are made
Dominant: A gene that shows the characeristics of another gene.
Gene: A unit of inheritance, or instructions for making a protein
Gene mapping: locating the positions of genes in a chromosome.
Generation: usually the inheritance of a living creature
Mutation: an inheritable change resulting from an alteration in DNA.
Offspring: Any organism that resembles its parent.
Protein: a large molecule containing one or more chains of amino acid
Recessive: a gene that hides a certain dominant trait
