Air can be used to do many different things. Air is needed for the survival of all living things. Oxygen that is in the air is needed to start a fire. Without oxygen, the fire wouldn’t light. This is why firefighters try to make the oxygen go away from the fire by spraying water. The atmosphere and ozone on Earth is needed in order for us to survive. The atmosphere, a couple of miles wide, is divided into several parts, the stratosphere, mesosphere, troposphere, thermosphere, and the ozone layer. The ozone layer is a thin layer of ozone in the atmosphere. It is a very important part of life. The ozone layer is 19 - 48 kilometers above the earth. The ozone layer prevents ultra-violent rays that come from the sun from reaching the surface. CFCs are destroying the ozone layer. One of the most important things to the survival of ancient civilizations was a fire. But, they would have never been able to start a fire because in order to light a fire, you need oxygen, which is a component of air. Air pollution can hurt you and all the wildlife. In air pollution, you will learn what causes air pollution and the consequences.
