The air is polluted by many things. Cars, factories, fire, etc. Cars, trucks, and buses let out smoke that makes the air bad and breathing unhealthy. As the number of cars on the Earth increase, the more polluted the world gets. Cars not only pollute the air, but it is unhealthy to breathe and many accidents are caused by cars. Scientists call the gases and fumes a layer of smog. The smog is really a layer of ozone. It is just that it is too close to the surface and effects our breathing. Not only does the smog effect our breathing, but it also eats away at buildings.
As we go into the future, scientists are making new cars that won’t pollute the air so much. A car that is already made runs on batteries. Electricity is considered an alternative fuel because it is a renewable resource, inexpensive, better for the environment, and safe to handle. Cars that run on electricity are being invented. These cars may prove to be better for the environment. Factories also hurt our environment. Some factories burn soft coal, which causes acid rain.
