Pluto is the smallest planet in our Solar System and is the ninth planet from the sun. Since Pluto is so far away from the Earth it has not been visited by any exploring spacecraft. Pluto is named after the Roman god of the underworld, not after Mickey Mouse's dog. In 1978 a moon was discovered revolving around Pluto. It was named Charon. The only way Pluto can be seen is with an extra large telescope.
