The Park

Mammoth National Park is a great place to explore! Mammoth Cave has five levels and over 330 miles of this cave has been mapped. And they are constantly discovering new caves! Mammoth Cave is the largest known cave system in the World! A half million people go underground in Mammoth Cave National Park each year. Mammoth does not light up the underground with glamorous lights, so you can always tell you are deep underground. Visitors are only allowed to travel through twelve miles of the cave, so much of this cave is unseen by most people.

Mammoth National Park offers Seven different tours, so anyone from young kids to adults can enjoy the beauty of these caves. But know that you are not alone the caves. There are trioglobites there too.


Weather

Since the Park is underground the temperature stays the same for most of the year, usually around 54 degrees. So make sure to bring a light jacket or sweater and remember to wear shoes with good treading. Outside the cave, here's what the weather will be like.

Winter:In the winter months highs are usually in the mid 40's and lows in the mid 20's. In the fall months temperatures range from high 50's to low 80's for the highs, and mid 30's to high 50's for the lows.In the winter months highs are usually in the mid 40's and lows in the mid 20's. In the fall you can expect a few thunderstorms and rain. For the winter months you can expect very few thunderstorms but some snow. So make sure to bring a winter coat for the winter months and a sweater and light jacket in the fall.

Summer:Summers outside of Mammoth Cave are hot so dress in shorts, but remember that sweater for the cave. The spring highs range in the 70's and the lows in the high 40's to low 50's. The summer month's highs are in the high 80's, and the lows in the low to mid 60's. The area has some thunderstorms especially in April and May.

Mammoth Cave National Park is located in Kentucky near both Park City and Cave City. There are campgrounds in the area and a hotel. There is a restaurant in the park area and supplies and showers near the Headquarter Campground. [FEES
ICON]Fees:There is no entrance fee, but fees are charges for the cave tours and Green River Boat Tour.

ICON]Special Facilities: There is disabled accessibility at the visitor's center, the Loop D Headquarters Campground, and at the Ampitheatre, and Heritage Trail. There is also a tour for the mobility impared.
