The Park

Deleware Water Gap has a huge variety of recreational activities for both winter and summer. The Deleware Water Gap Area also is rich in both natural and cultural history; the river valleys, and ridges contain streams, waterfalls, geological features, a diversity of plants and wildlife, and traces of past occupants and cultures. You can also take a trip to the past by visiting Millbrook Village.


Weather

Here's an updated weather map of (so-and-so park)...

Winter:Deleware Water Gap's winters are usually cold and you will need to bring a light jacket for the day and a winter coat for night. During fall you will need a sweater in the day and a light jacket at night. Temperatures in the winter months range from low to mid 30's in the day and high teen's to low 20's at night. Temperatures for the fall months range from low 50's to low 70's as the high's and low 30's to low 50's as the low's. You can expect quite a bit of snow during winter.

Summer:The summers in Deleware Water Gap are fairly warm, but don't be fooled! You will probably stil need a light jacket or sweater in the evenings. Temperatures in the spring range from low 60's to low 70's for highs and high 30's to high 40's for the lows. In the summer months temperatures get into the low to high 80's in the day and low to high 50's at night. Expect some thunderstorms, especially in the months of March and May.

Deleware Water Gap is located in Pennsylvania (despite the name).The COOL activities in Deleware Water Gap include: hiking, boating, crosscountry skiing, snowmobiling, learning about nature and cultural history, and Junior Naturalist and Junior Ranger Parograms, bicycling, horseback riding, hunting, and rockclimbing.

There is lodging and food supplies in Deleware Water Gap. There is also first aid available in the Recreation Center.

[FEES ICON]Fees: Only Commercial Vehicles on route 209 are charged a fee.

[WHEEL CHAIR ICON]Special Facilities: There is disabled accessibility at the visitors center and printed scripts available for the slide shows. There are many picnic areas that are accessible to the disabled. They include Kittany, Depew and Watergate (in New Jersey) Milford Beach, George W. Childs Recreation Site, Toms Creek and Smithfield Beach (in Pennsylvania). You can write to the following address for an access guide.
