Graphing

This is a graph. The lines intersecting at point O, called the origin, go on to infinity. The quadrants go counter-clockwise. The vertical axis is called the y-axis. The horizontal axis is called the x-axis. In this chapter we will teach you how to graph an equation.

 

Now we will graph the equation y=3x+2.

First we have to make a table of the values. If x=0, then y=2, and so on. (The Complete Table Can Be Seen Below)

Then we have to plot several points on the graph. We will graph (0,2), (1,5), and (2,8). Then we will draw a line through the points. Now you have a graph.
