If a region is revolved about a line, a solid called a solid of revolution is formed. The solid is generated by the region. The axis of revolution is the line about which the revolution takes place. Note the images below.

There are several methods by which we may obtain the volume of a solid of revolution. Below you may choose the four principal methods of obtaining the volume of a solid of revolution.
