...of a young man

Today was a day of blessing. My sister bore her first child today, a strong boy. Tomorrow the Fathers will christen him. I hope they will give him a strong name. Father says that I am making much progress in my studies of Spanish and God. I am proud that I can learn so quickly. Many people here are not happy, my best friend intends to run away tomorrow and join the revolt in San Diego. He will take a girl with him. I do not know her name. I only wish they could be happy here. Father says that some people just close their minds to God, and then He cannot help them. There is much to be thankful for here. We now have water to spare, the crops are doing well and the number of oxen has almost doubled. I will urge my friend to re-think his plan while we work in the fields tomorrow.
