If you look carefully at the buildings in the mission, you will see that they are all made of brick. It is not, however, the kind of brick you are used to. These bricks are adobe; they are made of clay, soil, and temper (ground up rocks and shells.) The people who made these would first mix the ingredients, and then put it in a mold. The bricks for walls are dried in the sun, but the tiles designed* for roofs and floors were made in wooden molds and baked in an oven.
