Church
Only one place in the mission was extravagently*
decorated: the church. The misson churches were generally quite large
and beautiful, and each was unique* The churches
were quite different from the rest of the mission. Many were made of
stone; all other buildings were made of adobe. They had beautiful oil
paintings adorning* the walls, and the
altars and crosses were often gilded* with
gold. Many old mission churches are still in use today.
