Goldenrod Weeds
Hey there, it's Paksond again, and I'm here to tell you about natural pollution. Did you know that goldenrod weeds cause pollution that can burn human eyes? It can also burn your nose and scratch the delicate part of the eye. Other pollen such as cedar, ragweed and oak are irritants -- that's not as bad as the goldenrod weed.
Solution
To clean the human eye, you need to tear ducts that produce drops of soothing fluid.
Volcanoes
Did you know during an eruption a volcano can cause air pollution? Gas and dust are thrown into the air! Most of the time gas and dust rise up to the atmosphere and are carried great distances. Some of the ash from the volcanic eruption is trapped in the atmosphere and will stay there for along time.Carbon Monoxide
Did you know that carbon monoxide is a colorless and odorless gas and is very poisonous to all living things? Carbon monoxide is an insidious poison for it can produce mild symptoms of headache, nausea, or fatigue, but that these mild symptoms can be followed by unconsciousness and even death. WOW! Motor vehicle exhaust and some industrial processes are major sources of carbon monoxide pollution. Newer cars have more advanced devices that lower the amount of pollution that cars give off. Cool! Acid Rain
Acid rain is precipitation that mixes with sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide and is very harmful to the environment. I don't want acid rain to fall where I live. When acid rain gets into lakes or rivers and the levels become too high, fish and other living things die. Sometimes fish can still survive with low levels of acid rain. The fish just get sick or their growth is stunted. The chemicals in acid rain can eat away at stone buildings and statues and can also damage the paint on cars. I don't want my car to be damaged. Breathing acid rain can cause respiratory problems.
Solution
Compliance with laws regarding air pollutants need to be strictly enforced for industries that are the major source of acid rain.
Nuclear Pollution and Solution
Hey there, it's Paksond again, and I'm here to tell you about some problems with nuclear pollution. According to the World Book Multimedia Encyclopedia, since 1990, the use of energy has almost doubled every twenty years.
Six percent of the commercial energy in the world is provided by nuclear energy and eight percent of our commercial energy in the USA is provided by nuclear power.
Though only eight percent of our energy in the USA comes from nuclear power, it can cause significant damage to our land. If there is an accident at a nuclear power plant radioactive materials might escape containment which can pollutes the land and air and can hurt our environment and natural resources.
Not only can it harm our land but can harm the people around it. Stated by Microsoft Encarta, the two main public concerns on the acceptability of nuclear power from fission is first is the high level or radioactivity present at various stages of the cycle. The second concern is the fact that the nuclear fuels uranium and plutonium are the materials from which nuclear weapons are made. Radiation can damage living tissues. A large population exposed to low levels of radiation can suffer increased cancer.
Despite all this nuclear power plants are still used today around the world.

There has been at least one incident in the past when a nuclear power plant has failed and people have been killed. This happened at Chernobyl in the former U.S.S.R (the Soviet Union). The only real way to protect against the hazards of nuclear pollution is to take extreme precautions, or not use nuclear power at all.
There are organizations working to save the earth from nuclear accidents and wastes but the high radioactive level in the power cannot be reduced. The hazardous fuels used in nuclear reactors are hard to handle and cause problems in their handling. This is mainly true of the spent fuels, which must be stored or disposed of in some way. These precautions can be tedious but if nuclear energy is to be used prevention will be the only solution to this problem.
