Introduction Into Energy Expedition

Introduction Into Energy Expedition Hi! I'm Paksond. I'm representing me about to go on an energy expedition! Hi, I'm PAKSOND the PLUG and I'm going to be your guide through this website. I'm going to tell you about different types of energy. When you are learning about different types of energy, don't forget to check me out, I'll be dressed for the occasion.

By the way, my name comes from the first letter of the last name of each team member. They are my energy source. GO! TEAM! GO! But, I need to get back on the job and tell you about energy, so here it goes. Energy is defined as the ability to make things happen. Energy cannot be created: nor can it be destroyed. Without energy nothing happens. There would be no life or movement at all, and what a boring world that would be. There would be no earth as we know it. Nothing would exist, if it were not for energy. Energy is necessary for plants to grow, wind to blow, and water to flow. Energy exists all around us, and it changes from one form to another.

Since very early in our history we have found ways to use energy to keep warm, to cook food, maximize the energy of our muscles by using tools, and light the darkness.

We have found different sources of energy such as: coal, oil and gas which are all fossil fuels. Wind, geothermal, water, solar, nuclear, biomass, and electricity are other kinds of energy we use to power our world.

Energy has been adapted to a wide variety of personal and industrial uses. The most important personal uses today are: cooking, comfort heating and cooling, hot water, illumination, transportation, communication, and refrigeration.

The industrialized organizations use large quantities of fossil fuels, and electricity. When a person works in an industry they tend to use more energy than when they are not in an industry.

Today we use more of the earth's resources faster than any past generation. If tomorrow's energy needs are going to be met, then we must find ways to use our energy more efficiently and effectively. We need to make all renewable energy resources, such as solar, water, electric, nuclear, and wind energy, better than they already are. We need to explore new forms of energy which, in theory, could provide us with unlimited power supplies. We are using up way too much energy (especially fossil fuels) way too fast. In the past a lot of people didn't care what energy was or where it came from, they just wanted it to be there when they needed it. Today more people are concerned that we might run out of energy, and its sources. So one big question on the minds of some of the smartest people in the world is what future sources will we use?
