Beethoven's full name is Ludwig Van Beethoven. He was born in Germany on December 16,1770. At the age of four, his father began instructing him. His father taught him how to play the violin and piano. Beethoven also studied the composition of music. He published his first composition in 1781, when he was only 11 years old.
When Beethoven was seventeen, he visited Vienna. This was a city that was famous for musical activity. Eight years later, in Vienna, Beethoven gave his first public performance. He even got to play for Mozart, who was very impressed with his abilities.
Beethoven composed great works. His greatest works were his nine symphonies. He composed eith out of these nine symphonies. In 1826 Beethoven became seriously ill with pneumonia. He died on March 26, 1827.
