WOLF. Wolves are 5-6 1/2 feet long including 14-19 inch tail. They weigh between 40 150 pounds.
An average range is between 80-115 pounds. The females are about 10 percent taller than the females.
Colors range from black-white, but most common are grey and black. Litter sizes average 5 pups born in May or June. At birth the pups weigh less than 1 pound.
The wolves's life span is about 10 years.
Wolves travel in packs of 6-12 animals, sometimes larger. In territories ranging in size from 300-1000 square miles. The average territory is 600 square miles.
Wolves are found throughout Alaska; on the Arctic Tundra, brushy areas, and rain forests.
Wolves are carnivorous and eat moose, caribou, Dall sheep, Mountain goats, deer, and small mammals.
Their predators are other wolves and people.
