VOLES. Also known as field mice look like chubby, blunt-nosed, short tailed and slow moving mice. They live in all regions of Alaska. They are active year round. They eat grasses and twigs, but they are the food for owls, foxes, wolves, wolverines, weasels, mink and marten through the winter. They start producing babies when they are only a month old. They produce up to 3 litters of 6 babies during a summer. They live to be only about a year old.
