Litters of 2-6 babies are born in the spring, and a 2nd litter of 2-6 are born in July. Babies weigh 1/3 ounce. Adults are 6-8 inches long and weigh 4-5 ounces. They are a grayish brown and the collared pika of Alaska has a light "collar" around the neck and shoulders. They have a white patch on their chest, a white belly and feet. Pika's live to be 3 years old.
Forbs, grasses, flowers, seeds, and lupines are the foods they eat. Their predators are hawks, weasels, eagles, and wolverines.
Pikas are found by rock slides and talus slopes near patches of vegetation or meadows in mountainous terrain. They are found in Alaska's Interior and South Central Regions.
