The thigh trap deals with trapping the ball waist-high. The object of trapping is to provide control of the ball for your next move.

When to use the Thigh Trap.

Receiving a ball in this area generally saves time and allow you to retain your balance. The ball in the air so you trapped it with your thigh.

1. Your need to bend your standing leg for balance. You turn you body sideways to the ball's approach.

2. Your trapping leg should be at right angles to you bod when ball is about to hit your thigh.

3. The ball should land in the middle of your thigh.

4. As the ball hit your leg you should move your leg back so your leg is perpendicular to the ground. This will soften the impact and allows the ball to drop to the ground, ready to be played by the same trapping foot.

Remember to keep your eyes on the approaching ball when trapping. At the moment of contact, the part of the body that hits the ball should be relaxed and allowed to give in the direction from which the ball is approaching.
