Slide tackle is when you slide into the ball with an extended leg to get the ball away from an opponent.

When to use Slide Tackle
The slide tackle is use when you cannot reach the ball stand and it is only used if you are in trouble. The slide tackle is the last resort because if you miss you'll wind upsetting on the ground. Someone is dribbling down the field and he gets a break away so you slide tackle him.
1.You must run until you are about two feet away opponent . Approach the player from either side, staying slightly behind.
2. As your are run you go down to the ground and slide into the ball at the point the ball is farthest from the ball carrier. The foot nearest the attacker should strike the ball for the tackle.
Coach Mark Hint
Size is not important to a good tackle. A good tackle must want to get the ball and not be afraid of his opponent. Be determined.
