The instep kick is the heavy artillery in the soccer player's skills. The instep kick if properly executed can be use to shoot on goal or a long accurate boom out of defense to a teammate well down the field.

When to do the Instep Kick
You're in the defense and some one is on you so you use the instep kick to get it out of the defense.
1. You go for the ball in full running, at an angle you want the ball to go. The nonkicking leg should be placed firmly alongside the ball, just far enough away to allow for a free leg swing.
2. Keep your eyes on the ball. If your not looking at the ball you will not hit the ball properly and lose power. To do the instep kick you must use the shoelace's part of your foot. Toes are pointed down, heel up, and ankle rigid. Your knee is straight to give maximum power.
2. Follow through in direction of flight.

3. As your run up you should place you're not kick foot firmly alongside the ball and in the direction you're what the ball to go
4. At contact your should have your eye on the ball
5. On contact your knee should be straightened ,toe down ,and heel up
