Heel is a kick or pass using the heel of your nonkicking leg.

When to use the Heel

The heel can be effectively used by passing back to a teammate come up from behind. You are dribbling up the field and a defender approaches so you pass it back with the heel to a teammate.

Three type of Heel

1. Step lightly on tip of ball and roll it backward with the sole of foot

2. The kick foot is brought over the ball and place in front of the ball. Before the foot hits the ground, use the momentum of the backswing to hit the ball. (see picture).

3. Step over the ball with one foot and kick with the other.

Use the heel only in a situation where there is no possibility of turning around for a safer, more accurate, an visual type of pass.
