GOALKEEPER

The goalkeeper sees the ball coming toward the goal up high. Time to react.

1. Keep you eyes on the ball as you move into position and into the air for the ball.

2. Arms are brought up with fingers well spread out and facing in the direction from which the ball is coming.

3. Catch should be made in front of the head so the ball can be cushioned by the arms to soften the impact with straining backward. Always catch the ball with both hands.

4. The ball should be drawn into the midsection and protected. Sometimes the goalkeeper comes down with the ball in a crowd and this step will help him keep the ball.
