DNA to Protein

Note: to use the following, you must have a JavaScript enabled browser, such as Netscape 2.02. Also, some versions of Netscape (3.0 release) don't seem to like this, it is Netscape's bug, not ours.

This program will translate a GCAT DNA sequence into the amino acid sequence for a polypeptide protein. Upon entering a DNA sequence, this program will output the corresponding amino acid abbreviations. A STOP codon indicates that the DNA sequence which was entered is normally found at the end of a polypeptide chain.

Now, examine the difference to the amino acids of proteins when a single frame mutation occurs. By deleting or adding a nucleotide somewhere in the chain, there will be a huge difference in the protein structure. Mutate the old GCAT sequence by deleting or adding a nucleotide:
