The sky changes every month because the Earthrotates. When the Hawaiians were navigating, they used "star paths"for each season. For example, the winter sky is different from thespring sky. So if the Hawaiians were sailing in the spring, they usedthe spring star path.
There are two hemispheres, the southernhemisphere, and the northern hemisphere. The hemispheres areseperated by the equator. For example, if you live in Hawaii, you arein the northern hemisphere because you are located above theequator.
If you were located in the southern hemisphere,you will not be able to see the North star because the North star canonly be seen in the northern hemisphere.
