The New Israel Fund is an international philanthropic partnership of North Americans, Israelis, and Europeans. NIF makes grants ($6 million, including NIF's own projects, in 1995); provides technical assistance through SHATIL -- its capacity-building center -- to some 170 Israeli public-interest groups; trains civil-rights and environmental lawyers; and conducts public education in North America, Israel, and Europe about the challenges to Israeli democracy. |
