Our Sun
Our sun is really a star. It is no more than a ball of burning gasses
that keep us warm and help us stay in orbit with its gravity. We cannot
safely look directly at the sun but this photograph was taken with a professional
telescope. You can see the gasses burning. Sometimes these gasses explode
causing a solar flare as you can see in the lower right-hand corner of the
picture.
There are countless stars in our universe but we do not know how many
of them have planets like ours nor how many might support life on their
planets. For now, we like to think there may be friends out there. We hope
to know more about other beings in our future.
