Night marchers are dead warriors who walk by ancient battle fields. |
Bump! Bump! The drums of the dead Hawaiian spirits march in the same procession as they once did. Night Marchers only come out on the night of Huaka'i po or the 27th phase of the moon. If you looked directly at them or if you are in their way, you would die. Sometimes you would be saved if your ancestor was in the march but the other way to be saved is that you would lie face down to the ground. Sometimes other people say that you have to lie face up naked, we all don't know how true that is. The first night of the Hawaiian tradition, the month began with the moon phase that is known as muku or severed moon and it continues with a month with twenty nine to thirty days. The nights from 4-7 belonged to Ku, the supreme god. The 14th night was Kapu to Kane, they were the gods of life. 25-27 belonged to Kanaloa the god of sea. 28 belonged to Kane and 29 belonged to Lono the god of agriculture. On those nights the gods would appear to the Hawaiians. By: Steven Ching Screeeech! As the car darted to the side of the road. It was one darkest of the afternoons I had seen as a kid. When I was small, one day the car broke down just as we were going to drop off some fish. Soon it was going to get dark and we all started to panic. My dad noticed that we had fish and some uncontrollable reason I looked into the sky and saw no moon. I began to break out into a cold sweat, suddenly I commented, "Throw out the fish". The rest of the family looked at me as if I was crazy to through out good fish. As soon as I threw out one fish I told my dad to start the car, Rum! Rum! It finally worked. Do you think that it was the Night Marchers or just a coincidence ??? A dog spirit went into a girl. She crawled like a dog and barked like a dog. Her parents took her to a temple in Lawai to get the dog spirit out. Her parents brought her to the temple a couple of times a week. The priest wore a pointed hat and waved a wand. He waved a tissue and slightly touched the girl's head. She then would crawl around the temple floor and bark like a little dog. After a couple of visits to the temple, she was cured. |
