One weekend in Polihale a group of kumus were camping out by an old hula platform. In the group one of the ladies couldn't sleep because she kept on hearing pahu drums. No one else heard it but that lady. The pahu drums wouldn't stop drumming all night. Then later on when the lady spoke to a kupuna, the kupuna asked the lady, "How did you sleep?" The lady was suprised that he asked her that but she told him about the pahu at night. The kupuna didn't seem suprised at this story and he told her that there must have been some kind of a reason why she heard the pahu drums. Kumu Lei and Kupuna Kapu shared their insight that there must have been some kind of connection with the hula platform and that lady. They thought that perhaps someone the lady's family long ago danced there and it probbaly was someone from her ohana (family) speaking to her. |
