Hi my is Kiah. I am ten years old. I attend King Kaumuali'i Elementary School. I enjoy sports like basketball and soccer, and the past two years I have been running track meet. I like to draw a lot too, I always wait for art every day, but only get art once a week. I am also fascinated with computers and all the things they can do for you. I have one brother named Noah and one sister named Hana. My parents' names are Miriam and Richard. My family and I like to go hiking. Every year we go to harder and harder hikes, and also it gets funner and funner every time we go hiking. (Like falling in a swamp in the wettest spot on earth.) I did three articles, one was on Ti (Ki). It is a very useful plant and can be made into a sweet candy. Second was on Kalo which is a good source of starch. And it is used as a good cooking material. The last one is leptospirosis, I got a lot of information from my Mom (a nurse), but in books too. You know in three weeks or so if you have leptospirosis and if you have been near fresh water with an open cut. I also started the first trail questions on our web site and did a few answers, but Logan finished the rest of them. Graphics sizing I did too, it was very hard to start off with but after a while I got the hang of it. My favorite thing that I did was the trail guides on the trail. I drew six trail guides on the computer with a mouse on the paint program, but I finally finished them and then when I opened them in Adobe Photo Shop they didn't open with good quality so I printed them out and scanned them and colored them, they turned out nice. What about the opening page? I drew a picture of the ahupua'a (land division) and scanned it, then we feathered it and I made the text red for Kauai's red dirt it is famous for. A few times I had to change the image size because it took so long to load. One of the first things that I did was interviewing about three people which gave me a lot of infomation. Two of them were on how to make a surfboard and then I got an even better interview when I saw someone make a surf board. The third one was on the ukulele. A student from the fifth grade knows how to play the ukulele very well. It was a great interview. |
