| FRUITS CHOKE PLUM- Choke plum is sour like a skin of a grape but it is edible. It could stain your clothes with a purplish color because it is purple on the inside. It is also called java plum although its real name is jambolan. Choke plum has a shape like an olive. The things that you could make out of the java plum is a purple-fleshed java plum juice, white-fleshed java plum juice, purple-fleshed java plum and guava jelly, purple-fleshed java plum jelly, and white-fleshed java plum jelly. LOQUAT- The fruit of the loquat is yellowish color. Loquat has a few large seeds. When it is half ripe the fruit is very acidic but when it is fully ripe it is sweet and has an egglike shape and is excellent for vitamin A, but it is not a good source of other vitamins. The fruit could be eaten fresh, or could be mixed with other fruits in a salad or a fruit cup. It could also be made into jelly. POHA-The poha is a small yellow green or orange fruit. It is also called the cape gooseberry and husk tomato, it is related to the ground cherry. The poha has a pleasing flavor and it could be used raw for desserts or shortcakes just like the strawberry. The poha could make a good frozen product as well. STRAWBERRY GUAVA- Strawberry guava is sweet and is also called cattley guava and it can be eaten fresh. The center of the guava is juicy and has tiny hard seeds. The strawberry guava could stain your clothes and it is hard to remove. The strawberry guava makes a deep red jelly. LILIKO'I- Liliko'i could be also called sweet granadilla or water lemon. The liliko'i belongs to the passion family that has many small seeds and was first planted on Maui and so it's named after Lilikoi Gulch on Maui. It may be used to flavor candy, cake icing, or frozen desserts. This yellow passion fruit could also be made into jelly. |
