Welcome

Welcome to the Computer Effects web page. This is a site devoted to teaching you about the computer graphics used today and in the past to enhance movies and television. By computer graphics we are referring to any use of computers, whether it be a large dinosaur rampaging across the screen, or a bluescreen composite of an actor, or a computer generated ship flying through the galaxy. We happen to be interested in all of it, and we assume that since you're here, you are too.

To choose an area of interest, just click on any of the icons on the filmstrip to the left, or read about them below. The icons will lead you to a page with a little more information about the topic, and since many of the categories are so broad, links to other pages with more specific information. There is a glossary with definitions of phrases and terms which may prove confusing to some, and we also have a multimedia gallery filled with movie clips and images from the movies and shows discussed in this site, along with links to other pages involved with our topics.

This page is always expanding! Please stop by occasionally to check on any updates. We also like to hear from visitors to our site. If there is an item you want clarified, or a correction to be made, or if you want to comment on this site, be it suggestions or criticism, visit our comments page and write to us! You can also read past user comments, and find out what other people think of this site. Please contribute your own ideas about special effects and our page! Our efforts to make this page bigger and better can only be furthered by your input.

This site also has a no frames version for those of you who don't enjoy navigating with frames. There is also a text-only page.

Thanks for visiting our page on Computer Special Effects. We hope you enjoy our site and that the information contained is useful. Have fun!
